John Steerwood
I am so very sad to have to let you all know that an extremely valued club member and committee member has passed away.
John Steerwood joined our club in 2004 and as a social member made many good friends. In 2011 I had the pleasure of asking John to join our management committee as a social representative, a position that suited him extremely well. just a few years later later in 2019 John was apponted New Malden Club Company Secretary.
I have had the pleasure of working with John for all those years until he moved to Somerset in 2024. John applied all of his skills, experience and initiative for the betterment of our club and in this pursuit devoted more time to this club than anybody I knew.
John and his wife Rita moved to Somerset in 2014 to be closer to his daughters and family and we all wished him well in his new life.
More important than his devotion to our club and everything he passd to us was that we can all count him as a really good friend.
I will write to Rita and his daughters Lucy and Rose on behalf of the club.
